Crossfit at the YMCA. Adaptive Crossfit is all about breaking barriers and embracing diversity. Get ready to challenge yourself, improve your strength, and have a blast. Our trainers will guide you through a variety of exercises and modifications tailored to your abilities. Don't miss out on this opportunity to push your limits and make new friends. CROSS COUNTRY

Details

Join us and Minot Park District for cross-country races this fall at Moose Park. The Adaptive heat starts at 5:30 p.m. Open enrollment, please reach out if you need adaptive equipment. There is no cost for your child to participate. The Minot Park District will be hosting these races.

Each participant will receive a weekly ribbon and will also have the opportunity to receive an award at the end of the season.

SIBSHOPS

Details

For siblings of children with special needs. Held at the YMCA.
Sibshops is a unique opportunity for siblings of individuals with special needs to connect, share experiences, and have a blast together. Our team at Prairie Grit has planned an exciting evening packed with games, activities, and chances to make new friends. Don't miss out on this fantastic event exclusively for siblings.

Pizza will be provided by Papa John's.

Free event with Prairie Grit at the YMCA. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced climber, this in-person event is perfect for everyone. Challenge yourself and conquer the walls as you learn new techniques and improve your climbing skills in ways that fit your abilities. Our expert instructors will guide you every step of the way, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. Don't miss out on this thrilling adventure - come and join us for Adaptive Rock Climbing at the YMCA.
Sessions will be in 30-minute increments.

Support Group for Parents with teens/adults with special needs

Details

Join us for our Support Group for Parents with children with special needs at the Minot Family YMCA. This in-person event provides a safe and welcoming space for parents to connect, share experiences, and receive support from one another.

We will discuss various topics related to parenting special needs individuals, including education, healthcare, and social integration that you may need help with or are concerned about. Our goal is to create a supportive community where you can find encouragement, resources, and understanding. This first meeting is all about learning what you think you need to know more about.

Whether you are seeking advice, a listening ear, or simply want to connect with other parents who understand the unique challenges you face, this support group is here for you. Join us at the Minot Family YMCA and let's navigate this journey together. We look forward to seeing you.

Gymnastics with gymagic

Details

Typically our most popular activity and great to get started with Prairie Grit. Join Adaptive Gymnastics with Gymagic and get your child set to tumble, balance, and bounce. Gymnastics has two sessions (Fall & Winter). There are two different classes in each session available on Saturdays for ages Ages 3–16. The cost is just $5 per class and registration is required.

Burlimot adaptive mile

Details

This 1 mile fun run/walk/roll is open to all abilities. Any mobility aid is welcome to be used (crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, race chairs, strollers). Able-bodied and differently-abled bodies are invited to participate together in this inclusive event.
Adaptive equipment is available upon request.
$5.00 Race Fee + $1.30 SignUp Fee
This event is not timed.
Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 adaptive participants.

Wild West Rodeo

Details

The Wild West Rodeo is an eventful activity that invites children ages 5-13 to participate with the assistance of a partner in eight modified rodeo events. The activities are a reflection of the real rodeo events but are specifically patterned for children with exceptional situations (disabilities or special needs). This event is in conjunction with the Minot Y’s Men Rodeo at the Minot Municipal Auditorium. Wild West Rodeo begins at 11:00 A.M. with a pizza party at noon.
The registration deadline is Friday, October 18th. Participants must wear closed-toed shoes. Check-in begins at 10:45 am. Participants must have a liability waiver completed by a parent or guardian before participation in the event.

SENSORY-FRIENDLY HALLOWEEN FUN HOUR

Details

Enjoy the YMCA Halloween Fun Night without the big crowds in a more sensory-friendly environment. The first hour of the YMCA Fun Night will be open to families with children with special needs.

*$3 per child or $15 for a family* Cash at the gym door OR card/check at the Service Desk then bring the receipt to the gym door.

Come in your costumes and enjoy tricks and treats here at the Y with Prairie Grit!

Details

A swim program designed to teach children with special needs swimming skills. The All Kids Swim program is focused on participants ages 4-14 years learning basic swimming and water safety skills in a group setting with individualized instruction.

ADAPTIVE SWIM MEET

Details

Join us for the Fall Adaptive Swim Meet at the Minot YMCA, designed to welcome participants of all ages, from 4 to adult. This event is inclusive of all abilities, with accommodations such as life jackets, pool noodles, and personal assistants readily available. Participants and their families are invited to enjoy a series of swim events, followed by complimentary free swim time. The event is free of charge, but pre-registration is required.

Sled Hockey

Details

Our signature sport, Sled Hockey, is available to any adaptive athlete from 5 years and up. This sport is a perfect fit for all abilities of children and adults who may have trouble participating in mainstream sports. Our youth hockey team, the Prairie Grit Wolves, practice at the MAYSA Arean on Saturdays during the season. We have Open Adult Hockey Wednesday nights throughout the season. This is open to all abilities 18 and older.

Itty Bitty Sports

Details

The main objective of this camp is to teach young children ages 3-6 about different sports and to have fun. Basketball, Football, Soccer, T-ball, Hockey, and other activities will be completed. The group is designed specifically for children with special needs.
