Hess Corporation Donates $23,850 to Prairie Grit to Support Summer Programs

Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports has received a generous $23,850 donation from Hess Corporation to support its 2025 summer programs, ensuring adaptive sports opportunities remain accessible to youth and adults with disabilities across north central North Dakota.

The funding will help sustain and expand Prairie Grit’s summer programming, which includes adaptive sport camps, an adaptive fishing day, and adaptive soccer. These programs create inclusive opportunities for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities to participate in recreational and competitive sports.

“We are incredibly grateful to Hess Corporation for their continued commitment to making adaptive summer sports possible for our region,” said Krystal Butgereit, Executive Director of Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports. “This support allows us to provide life-changing opportunities for our athletes, giving them the chance to stay active, build confidence, and be part of a welcoming community.”

Since its inception, Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports has grown to offer nearly 50 different adaptive activities year-round, serving over 400 participants. In the past year alone, 50 new athletes joined the program, demonstrating the increasing demand for inclusive sports opportunities.

“Hess is proud to support Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports and the incredible work they do to provide adaptive sports opportunities in our communities,” said Brent Lohnes, General Manager of Hess Corporation. “We are honored to contribute to their work to help ensure everyone has access to recreational activities.”

Hess Corporation’s support plays a vital role in helping Prairie Grit continue its mission of fostering inclusivity and expanding access to adaptive sports.
